Gunmen kill Fulani leader

Daily Trust the community leader was killed by gunmen who stormed his house at Lamba around midnight.
“They went straight to his bedroom and shot him on his chest. They made sure he was dead before they left. “For now, we don’t suspect anybody and their whereabouts is still unknown. But the deceased has been buried this morning according to Islamic rites,” he said.
Confirming the incident, the PRO of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Babawale Zaid Afolabi, said the command visited the community when it heard about the incident.
He told

In view of the rising insecurity in Nigeria, what is your advice to the government?
Nigeria’s problem is not from today, we all have to understand that. The feeling that there is somebody in power now and he is doing badly and we want to change him is not from today. The foundation has been bad. During General Yakubu Gowon’s regime, he commissioned a Peugeot Plant in Kaduna and another plant in Enugu. All these were investments that we hoped would provide jobs for people. When last have you heard that a factory was opened anywhere? You can drive around Ilorin and all the warehouses you will see, were once factories. When these factories were closed, so many jobs were lost. We have a lot of work to do in Nigeria and our population is growing at an alarming rate. We are just manufacturing children, no jobs. It is scary and before we know it, Nigeria’s population will be about 300 million people. ....

Man admits raping 10-year-old in Kwara, victim's family wants no-case

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has announced the arrest of a suspected rapist, Muhammadu Mailemu.
The Public Relations Officer, Babawale Afolabi, in a statement on Tuesday, said the report was received from its Outpost office in Banni, Asa Local Government Area.
Usman Mojana complained on behalf of his daughter who was allegedly raped.
The victim was on the farm, with her younger sister plucking locust beans, when the suspect ordered her down from the tree and held her. The sibling ran away.
Mailemu removed her clothes and raped her. One Sheu Garba, who responded to her cries, rushed in to rescued. ....

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has vowed to suspend members of the
All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara who have taken the party to court over its membership registration exercise and the removal of the party chairperson in the state.
At a meeting with party leaders loyal to him on Saturday, Mr AbdulRazaq said the party would take a decisive action against the ‘dissidents’ in the party.
The governor said the members had hatched their plots in Abuja to frustrate the membership registration exercise of the party in the state through “needless litigations.” ....
