Havana, Mar 7 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela s Vice President Delcy Rodriguez arrives today in Cuba on a working visit to discuss expanding bilateral links, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported here.
Rodriguez heads the Venezuelan delegation to 21st Cuba-Venezuela Joint Intergovernmental Commission, and as part of her stay on the island she will hold talks with authorities, among other activities.
Last January, Rodríguez met Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel, when she traveled to Havana at the head of a Venezuelan governmental delegation.
During the meeting, both leaders highlighted the excellent state of relations and discussed issues of mutual interest and the regional and international situation. ....

What’s new? After years of political turmoil, elections for Venezuela’s National Assembly ended in a predictable victory for President Nicolás Maduro. Mainstream opposition parties boycotted the poll and, alongside the U.S. and Latin American and European countries, accuse the government of rigging the elections.
Why does it matter? Elimination of the opposition majority in parliament will greatly complicate efforts to resolve the standoff with the government. The boycott split the opposition, and dwindling support for its leader Juan Guaidó raises questions about who might face the government in future negotiations.
