Price-hike at utility stores confession to historic inflation: Shehbaz

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) President and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has confessed to historic inflation by increasing the prices of essential items at the Utility Stores.
In a statement, issued here on Saturday, Shehbaz said why the government would increase the price of necessary items at stores under its own control if the country would have not been going through hyperinflation.
He said the government that had put Pakistanis through hell for the past three years could only deceive the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir with their lies during the campaign. ....

PML-N President and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif Friday said by increasing the prices of petroleum products, the government has dropped a new bomb on the people of Pakistan.
“The increase in the prices of sugar, flour and ghee show that the government is completely blind to the rising poverty in the country and the plight of the poor,” the PML-N president said in a statement, as he strongly criticised further increase in the prices of sugar, edible ghee and flour. “The increase in prices of ghee from Rs 170 per kg to Rs 260 per kg and flour from Rs 820 per 20 kg to 950 per 20 kg is a testament of the government’s failure,” he said. “The increase in sugar price at utility stores from Rs 68 per kg to Rs 85 per kg shows that there is no one running the country. These price hikes have proven every single word of the opposition,” he added. ....

LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has served a legal notice on PML-N Punjab spokesperson Azma Bokhari, asking her to tender an apology for levelling ‘baseless’ allegations of corruption in posting and transfer of bureaucrats in the province.
In case of her failure in tendering the apology within 14 days, a suit for damages to the tune of Rs250 million will be filed before a court of law, the notice says.
Ms Bokhari had accused chief minister’s principal secretary of receiving bribes against postings and transfers. “Some officials are openly saying that they have got positions after paying bribe to the CM office,” she had claimed. ....
