The theme of this piece is Emilia Asim-Ita. So, I would go through several timelines with some memories.
If anyone had informed me that the writer’s block which I had been experiencing from the third week in December 2020 till Friday, January 29, 2021 would be unblocked and blown to smithereens by the news of the demise of Emilia Asim-Ita, I would not have found such futuristic revelation comforting, I would have shut it down and discarded it for numerous reasons (some of which I would highlight here).

It would have been roundly rejected. But here I am, typing away on my keyboard (the first few paragraphs of this piece), on an extremely sunny Sunday (January 31, 2021) in the City of Kigali, with the Gospel band Hillsong’s songs blaring from my neighbour’s apartment and every lyric of each track now carries a different meaning. And I am doing a double take on each lyric and tabling rhetorical questions. ....

5 February 2021: The COVID-19 pandemic has moved the issue of business sustainability to the role finance professionals should play in leading a green and fair recovery and ensuring sustainable decision-making becomes business as usual.
A series of virtual events hosted by ICAEW, Accounting for Sustainability (A4S) and Deloitte as part of the Finance for the Future Awards programme has highlighted the pivotal role finance can play in driving the sustainability agenda.

British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam John Virgoe co-hosted the Southeast Asia (SEA) Women of the Future Awards high tea at the Residence on Friday night, as a show of appreciation to the nation’s remarkable women.
Brunei’s Southeast Asia Women of the Future Ambassadors Pengiran Dr Noor Affizan binti Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman and Supna Rania Karwanamurthi played co-hostesses.
The event encourages Brunei women to nominate a candidate for the SEA Women of the Future Awards.
With the Countess of Wessex as their Global Ambassador, other SEA Women of the Future alumni from Brunei include Amy Cheong, Najaa Halbi, Fatin binti Arifin, Siti Noraspadiyah binti Haji Mohd Sah and Aimi binti Ramlee. ....
