WITH the latest movement control order that prohibits dine-in at restaurants, some restaurateurs have learned lessons from the first MCO last March to maintain their businesses. The government has announced that dine-in is not allowed in eateries in states where the MCO is enforced until Jan 26. Even prior to the MCO, modern London-dining restaurant W1 owner Danny Thompson said they had pre-empted their flyers containing restaurant promotions and updated their food delivery partners. “We were active during the initial MCO last year, so we knew what to do now, ” he told StarMetro in Kuala Lumpur. ....

Not being able to fulfil the influx of food orders in a short period of time and technical glitches with delivery partners are just some of the issues faced by restaurant staff. MyBurgerLab restaurant, which has six branches across Klang Valley, had to cancel many of its delivery orders last weekend, mainly due to a backlog from one of its delivery partners’ system that resulted in food orders flooding in past 7.30pm. ....
