As Katy Perry’s “Firework” verse “Do you ever feel like a plastic bag” played during Andrew Zheng’s Mr. ASIA competition video, the Syracuse University freshman let go of a plastic bag which then blew in the wind. In the bloopers, the audience saw Zheng chasing the bag.
A Mr. ASIA panelist, SU sophomore Thomas Cheng, commented in the chat, “Environmentally concerned, talented, and he can code a true renaissance man.” ....

In the new Hollywood blockbuster Godzilla vs Kong, Hong Kong becomes the scene of an epic final battle against a monster that threatens to destroy the world. The skyscrapers of the city are reduced to rubble as King Kong slugs it out with the awoken colossus. Though the film wasn’t made by Hong Kong film-makers, it feels symbolic. In the week of its release, a sense of dread increased among the 7.5 million citizens of the territory, as they learned that the legal and governmental independence promised to them for 50 years after the handover of the prosperous British colony to China in 1997 was being dismantled ever more quickly. ....

Unions fear impact of suppression of campus activity
Candidates standing for leadership positions in Hong Kong’s university student unions are facing increased pressure over campus activities in the wake of the new Beijing-imposed National Security Law. Warnings from university management directed at unions and fears of being individually targeted have meant few students are willing to stand for union positions.
Union members said university management has been quick to object by letter to campus events organised by student unions, particularly after Hong Kong’s Secretary for Education Kevin Yeung called on universities in November last year to tighten up on student activities. ....
