Letters: Patients unable to see their GPs face to face can find that their illness is misdiagnosed

7 May 2021 • 12:02am Although Covid infection levels are falling, it is still difficult to book an appointment to be examined by a doctor Credit: Lynne Cameron/PA SIR – Two weeks ago, I rang my local surgery at 8.30am, as a large swelling had appeared on the inside of my knee. The surgery gave the date as January 2021 in its recorded message and said it had closed and was operating from another surgery in a neighbouring village, with reduced appointments. I finally got through there at 4pm and was told by the receptionist there were no more appointments for that day and I should try again the next day at 8.30am.

Organisers confident walk will go ahead

Feb 26, 2021 ORGANISERS of the Island Walk are soon due to decide how it could take place during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic – and they have extended the deadline for the discounted entry price until next month. (30306206) Sponsored by the TMF group, last year’s walk had to be rescheduled because of the pandemic but organisers are confident that it will go ahead this summer on Saturday 19 June – for what will be its 30th anniversary. Since the annual event began in 1991, more than 26,000 walkers have raised over £2.4 million for local charities. It usually consists of the main 48.1-mile walk, as well as a four-section relay and a smaller 13-mile route known as the Lieutenant-Governor’s Challenge.
