Police in Denver say a man who fired at least a couple of shots along a busy street during the morning commute is dead after being shot by police. This list compiles all shootings that involve Colorado police departments that have occurred since Jan. 1, 2021. For the purposes of this list, a shooting is defined as an incident where a police officer and/or suspect discharges a firearm. There have been 14 police shootings so far in 2021. ....
The details emerged Monday in an arrest affidavit for Eddie Lovins, 48, of Pueblo West. He was arrested on charges of first-degree criminal attempted murder and first-degree criminal attempted assault. His bond has been set at $500,000. According to the affidavit, Lovins placed a call to the Tennessee Highway Patrol and told them a “bomb” was in the Tennessee State Capitol Building. Lovins didn’t admit to planting a bomb – that was later investigated and dismissed after a search resulted in no bombs or threat. Deputies attempted to contact Lovins at his home twice, according to the document, but were unsuccessful. The third attempt came after the Tennessee Highway Patrol contacted the Pueblo County Sheriff s Office and said Lovins had called them again. ....

Two Colorado police officers were injured Friday when a man who threatened to harm law enforcement opened fire, the Pueblo Chieftain reports. The two officers – Sgt. Josh Rude and Deputy Nicolas Berumen of the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office – were shot during an hour-long stand-off with 48-year-old Eddie Lovins at his home in Pueblo West. Police shot a bean bag bullet at Lovins to stop him from firing and then took him into custody. “We were able to neutralize the suspect, put him in our custody, and checked and there were no injuries (on him),” Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk Taylor told the newspaper. ....
