In the Pittsburgh suburb of Bethel Park, municipal officials improvised when they closed the office last year. “We knew we could not communicate normally,” said Lawrence Christian, Bethel Park’s manager. “You can’t be transparent enough.” The local government posted its agenda and minutes on its website, including budgets and hired a part-time social media provider, produced its Quarterly Chronicles report and developed a system of having the mayor do two- to- three-minute discussions with constituents via their home phones, Christian said. ....

The state s Department of Health reported more than 4,600 new positive cases yesterday. There are currently almost 2,400 people hospitalized with the coronavirus statewide, and of those cases, 446 patients are being treated in the intensive care unit. Shooting In Harrisburg Kills 47-Year-Old Man (Harrisburg, PA) Police are investigating a shooting in Harrisburg that killed a 47-year-old man. The shooting occurred this past Tuesday night in the 14-hundred-block of Vernon Street. Police say Laroyce Reed was found shot inside an apartment. He was taken to the hospital but later passed away from his injuries. Anyone with any information is being asked to contact the Harrisburg Police Department. ....
