HAZEL GREEN, Ky. (LEX 18) — The floodwaters may have receded, but the memories of what happened Sunday night still remain.
A crew of volunteer firefighters with the Hazel Green Fire Department was out responding to storm damage when Eddie Stacy saw something peculiar.
When I come around the curve, I could see a light from a cell phone just flashing on and off and it just caught my eye, volunteer firefighter Eddie Stacy said.
That light was coming from a car trapped in floodwaters from the Red River. Inside, there was a family of five. They were screaming for help. ....

Emergency workers saved dozens of people in Kentucky and West Virginia over the weekend as both states experienced severe flooding.
Firefighter Eddie Stacy and his co-workers rescued a family from a flooded car in Wolfe County in eastern Kentucky, the Associated Press reported. Stacy’s crew was responding to a downed tree when he noticed a woman’s cellphone flashlight.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. Kentucky firefighter Eddie Stacy was turning his firetruck around in the dark while responding to storm damage when he noticed a tiny light coming from the flooded Red River.
It was a cellphone a woman was waving from a car inundated with water that was rising by the minute.
Stacy and other members of the Hazel Green Fire Department sprang into action Sunday night, pulling five people from the car where water was up to the dashboard. Among those rescued were a 17-month-old boy and a woman who appeared to be having a seizure, Stacy said in a telephone interview Monday. ....
