HR industry skills gap concerns exacerbated by Brexit Published: 04 Mar 2021 Most organisations within the HR industry (73%) are feeling strained due to a lack of skilled workers. In its new Mind the Gap report, recruitment firm Search Consultancy found that the main contributors toward the skills shortage in HR were a lack of qualified candidates (37%), followed by issues with retention (29%). One of the factors causing concern for 27% of respondents was Brexit. Speaking to HR magazine Jillian Fleming, Search Consultancy HR manager, added that a great deal of uncertainty persists in the UK job market as it deals with the impact of the pandemic, Brexit and an ageing workforce. ....

(Shutterstock) MASSACHUSETTS The state will offer weekly coronavirus testing for schools in an effort to get more students back in class at a time when some districts face resistance from teachers who say they feel unsafe in the buildings. Gov. Charlie Baker said Friday the pool testing will be made available to all schools and districts in the state in the next month. The state will pay for the launch period about six weeks at an estimated cost of $15 million to $30 million, after which schools can pay for the service through a state contract. ....
Ports Association Hires Membership, Public Affairs Executives The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) the unified and recognized voice of seaports in the Americas announced it has hired two new senior staff members to fill positions of two long-time senior staff who will soon be retiring. Paula Gonzalez, previously the global membership manager for the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) in Newark, Del., began her new position as AAPA’s senior manager of membership recruitment on Dec. 7. She will replace Ed O’Connell, AAPA’s membership services director, who began his tenure with the association in 1997 and will retire at the end of 2020. ....
