A man was tasered by police in the Borders on Christmas Day A BORDERS man was tasered by police during a disturbance on Christmas Day. Officers were called to the Abbey Road area of Coldstream at around 5.50pm after a report of a man allegedly in possession of a firearm. During the course of the incident, a taser was discharged and the man arrested. Police said no-one was injured during the disturbance. A 29-year-old Coldstream resident appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Sunday charged with assault, two counts of police assault and threatening or abusive behaviour. He made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.

Alexander Nelson denies stealing £50,000 worth of hot tubs in Macmerry

Edinburgh Sheriff Court A MAN has appeared in court following the alleged theft of 10 hot tubs worth an estimated £50,000. Alexander Nelson, 31, appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday accused of stealing the hot tubs from an industrial unit in Macmerry. Nelson, from Edinburgh, is alleged to have acted with others unknown and forced open a locked commercial yard to steal the six-person spas. It is also alleged that Nelson committed the offence having been granted bail at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last month. Nelson pleaded not guilty to the charges on summary complaint and was released on bail. He is due to return to the dock in May to stand trial in relation to the alleged theft.
