Effingham Plan Commission Special Meeting Held Today

Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham Plan Commission held a special meeting today to discuss a couple action items for the City.
The first discussion item was a new hangar for the Effingham County Memorial Airport, as it has been seeing more traffic as of late.
The second discussion item was a petition for a new mental health center at 423 West Virginia Avenue, which will require minor renovations and possibly expanded parking. Support for the new mental health center was heard by Theresa Loy and Greg Webb.

EFFINGHAM — The Effingham Plan Commission rejected key aspects of a proposal for a QuikTrip gas station and convenience store at the north end of Effingham after months of delays and a lively public hearing.
The decision was a rare split vote for the commission, with a 5-2 vote not to recommend rezoning the proposed travel center’s lot at the corner of Technology Drive and North U.S. 45.
