The witness statements of the Bureau of Military History offer much insight into the Irish War of Independence. There is much to glean from the Cork context on IRA activity and the gathering of intelligence by Cork Brigade No. 1 across April and May 1920.
Michael Murphy (Commandant, 2nd Battalion Cork No. 1 Brigade, O/C, Cork No. 1 Brigade Active Service Unit/witness statement 1547) relates that early in the month of April 1920, an order was received from General Head Quarters Dublin, to the effect that all income tax offices should be burned at the same time on a fixed date. 1. The shortage of Trained Science Teachers
The National Curriculum Framework document published by our National Institute of Education makes the following observation:
There is a shortage of qualified STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) teachers and a deployment practice skewed towards urban schools, making it difficult for non-urban students to access STEM streams. As a result, the government’s efforts to increase STEM access in provincial and rural areas by providing additional classrooms and laboratories have not led to the intended results. Secondary school enrolment in rural areas still remains skewed towards arts subjects. It is through science education the children get the ability to understand the world around them in a realistic way. ....

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN), through the Aircraft Maintenance and Flight Trials Unit (AMAFTU) has been conducting maritime flight test since 1964. Join Qualified Test Pilot Lieutenant Commander Ben Hammond and Flight Test Engineer Dave Vaughan as they discuss maritime flight test in the RAN.
