In delivering the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure s budget to the National Assembly yesterday, I stated that I believe that investing in South Africa s infrastructure will bring us closer to our continent as we link to our neighbours with new ports of entry, bridges and roads - increasing trade and deepening our links.
As President Cyril Ramaphosa said we are not only going to talk about our plans but emphasise what we have already done.
Let me report on how the excavators are breaking ground as we implement the Infrastructure Investment Plan approved by Cabinet in May 2020. ....

JOHANNESBURG - Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia de Lille admitted South Africa had been left littered with unfinished projects because the construction sector was one of the most corrupt in the country.
Graft in the construction sector has cost the state about R10 billion in price-fixing.

Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille says the new Infrastructure Built Anti-Corruption Forum will do due diligence on tenders.
Public Works Minister Patricia de Lille says they can not allow the crooks to steal money meant for infrastructure.

Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia de Lille has vowed to tighten controls in the construction sector as government moves ahead with its infrastructure plans.

The infrastructure plans, approved by Cabinet in May 2020, forms part of the country’s Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan.

De Lille and head of the Special Investigating Unit, Andy Mothibi, launched the newly established Infrastructure Built Anti-Corruption Forum (IBACF) in Cape Town on Monday.

The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure and the Special Investigating Unit have created a new anti-corruption forum.
The forum is aimed at monitoring infrastructure projects more effectively and putting systems in place to detect and prevent corruption.
Representatives of the forum include the NPA and the Hawks.
