South Sudan is facing one of the worst food security crises globally. An estimated 7.2 million people, representing 60% of the country’s population are expected to face acute food insecurity between now and July 2021, says the East African regional group, the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD)’s Food Security and Nutrition Working Group.
In a report released on Monday, the Food Security and Nutrition Working Group has revealed that the main drivers of food insecurity in the country are conflict – widespread flooding, COVID-19, and a protracted macroeconomic crisis. ....

JUBA, May 10 (Xinhua) South Sudan is facing one of the worst food security and nutrition crises globally, as an estimated 7.2 million people are expected to face high levels of acute food insecurity between now and July, aid agencies warned on Monday.
The Food Security and Nutrition Working Group (FSNWG), a multi-stakeholder regional forum chaired by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) said out of these, some 108,000 people are expected to be in Catastrophe phase (IPC 5) between April and July mainly in Jonglei, Northern Bahr el Ghazal, and Warrap States. ....

Armenia Food Security & Nutrition Technical Working Group Response Update: March 2021 Partner Coverage

Four Food Security and Nutrition Working Group partners reached 13,461 individuals with in-kind food assistance in March 2021 in three provinces across Armenia. Those reached include individuals in refugee-like situations and individuals from households hosting them. Food assistance reached only 26% of those estimated as being in need, demonstrating large gaps in the response.
Specialised assistance targeting at-risk groups of malnutrition, including women, children, and the elderly was reported as wholly unfunded by the two Food Security and Nutrition Working Group members actively fundraising for this type of assistance (Action Against Hunger and Unicef). This leaves significant gaps in this type of activity. ....
