Intel has bolstered its mobile lineup with new Tiger Lake-H processors, bringing higher core counts and new features for faster enthusiast laptops and mobile workstations. Announced on Tuesday, the new Tiger Lake-H processors use the Willow Cove core architecture made using Intel’s 10nm SuperFin transistors. According to Intel, Willow Cove boasts up to 20 per cent IPC uplift compared to Sunny Cove, the core architecture of the 10th gen Ice Lake mobile processors. Tiger Lake-H also comes with a trove of new features with the most notable being PCIe 4.0, Thunderbolt 4, and Wi-Fi 6. Typically, Intel appends the “H” suffix mobile processor names that have higher performance. These are often used for gaming laptops and mobile workstations. With their introduction, Tiger Lake mobile processors now have three performance tiers: Tiger Lake-H for enthusiast computing, Tiger Lake H35 for mainstream performance, and UP3 for ultraportables. ....
Source: Harish Jonnalagadda / Windows Central Intel had a clearly defined tick-tock strategy: with every generation, we got a fabrication enhancement (tick) followed by a refresh of the microarchitecture to leverage the full gains of that node (tock). This has worked reliably all the way from 65nm to 14nm, and solidified Intel s position as the leading chip manufacturer in the world. Then came 10nm. Intel just couldn t find a way to scale its 10nm node effectively, so it instead fell back to 14nm and focused on architectural changes to deliver performance gains with every new launch. What was meant to be a stop-gap measure ended up being a six-year undertaking that s continuing to this day last year s Core i9-10900K was meant to be the last of the 14nm design, but Intel has continued to use the node in 2021 with Rocket Lake. ....

Intel’s 11th Gen desktop chips are finally here with its Rocket Lake-S products, which combine the best parts of Intel’s 14nm process with its 10nm designs for faster speeds but with fewer cores than the 10th Gen designs. ....
Jan 17, 2021 01:26 EST It looks like the tides have turned and Intel CPUs are now being sold at cheaper prices compared to AMD s Ryzen offering while featuring a higher number of cores and threads. The Core i9-10850K is the prime example of this which offers higher cores, threads, and clock speeds than AMD s 8 core & 16 thread Ryzen 7 5800X. Intel Core i9-10850K CPU With 10 Cores Now Cheaper Than AMD s Ryzen 7 5800X With 8 Cores The Intel Core i9-10850K was launched back in July 2020 for a price of $450 US. The chip was meant to be an alternative to the Core i9-10900K which was facing yield issues and supply shortages when it launched. Almost every tech outlet that had tested the chip called the Core i9-10850K as the best gaming CPU for its price and performance. It delivered the same performance as the expensive i9-10900K for $50 US lower and now, the chip can be found for a price of around $400 US which puts it in a very competitive position against AMD s Ryzen ....
