January 14, 2021
ISLAMABAD: Ustad Karim Khalili, Leader of Hezb-e-Wahadat-e Islami (HWI), Afghanistan, has said that peace in Afghanistan will create a situation that will benefit all countries, especially the region and neighbours.
Ustad Khalili expressed these views while addressing at a ‘Public Talk’ organised by Institute of Strategic Studies (ISS) under its distinguished lecture series.
Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry, Director-General, ISS, moderated the proceedings. Khalili said that peace is a multidimensional phenomenon with multifaceted effects in different dimensions of human social life and societies. He observed that, when we talk about peace, in addition to the political dimension, we must also consider its cultural, economic and social dimensions. He said that we are living in an interconnected world with a vast network of global issues where war and peace are no exception. He said that when a peace agreement upholds human rights’ values, such a ....

Afghan dialogue - Newspaper

AS the Afghan Taliban and the government in Kabul try and reach a modus vivendi in Doha, it is essential that the level of violence is brought down to allow the peace process to succeed. This point was stressed by Pakistan’s civil and military leadership on Tuesday when prominent Afghan Hazara leader Ustad Karim Khalili called on both the prime minister and army chief during his visit to Islamabad. The comments are particularly important considering the history of bad blood between Afghanistan’s Hazara community and the Taliban. The latter were responsible for the 1998 massacre of hundreds, possibly thousands, of mostly Hazara victims in Mazar-i-Sharif; it is unlikely that memories of that atrocity have faded. However, if Afghanistan is to prosper, it must look forward while acknowledging its painful past. That is why the talks in Doha are so crucial. Afghan factions can talk to foreign forces all they want, but the fact remains that peace in that country is unlikely unless th ....

Stable Afghanistan in Pakistan's interest: General Qamar Javed Bajwa

Stable Afghanistan in Pakistan s interest: General Qamar Javed Bajwa
ISLAMABAD: Ustad Karim Khalili, the top Shia leader of the Hizb-e-Wahdat-e-Islami Afghanistan, called on Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa separately, here on Tuesday and discussed bilateral and other issues.
Khalili is an ethnic Hazara leader of Afghanistan and his visit is seen as part of an effort to repair the troubled relations between the two neighbouring countries in parallel with the peace talks underway in Qatar between the Afghan government negotiators and the Taliban.
COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa told the visiting Afghan leader that Pakistan at peace with its neighbours was in its own interest. “Peace in Afghanistan means peace in Pakistan.” A stable and prosperous Afghanistan at peace with itself and its neighbours is in Pakistan’s national interest, the COAS told Khalili, chairman Hiz ....
