Changes at the Daily Jeffersonian

Changes at the Daily Jeffersonian Pam James Readers of the Daily Jeffersonian have undoubtedly noticed a couple recent changes to this publication. I became the new editor a few weeks ago, as the previous editor Beth Bailey had accepted a new position within the Gannett Company. I’ve worked for Gannett for more than 20 years and also serve as the editor of the Zanesville Times Recorder and the Coshocton Tribune.  Gannett and GateHouse Media, the previous owner of the Daily Jeff, merged late last year. At that time the look of the Daily-Jeff.com changed but not much else. Since I’ve joined the team at the Daily Jeffersonian, I’ve instituted a couple small changes. This includes the elimination of the Let’s Reminisce and Good Day columns. Let’s Reminisce required a great deal of time to research each week, and that employee’s time is now dedicated to community stories and shooting sports photos. The Good Day content is still in the Daily Jeff, as the meeting notices

Advertising group hosts virtual mixer The American Advertising Federation’s Hawaii chapter will host a virtual creative mixer event at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday for members and nonmembers on Maui. Attendees will have an opportunity to network, learn about membership benefits and play games for the chance to win prizes. All proceeds from the event will go to the organization’s scholarship fund. MEO volunteers of the year to be announced Maui Economic Opportunity will announce its individual and benefactor volunteers of the year at its 35th Volunteer Celebration from 11 a.m. to noon on Friday. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event will be held virtually and is open to the public. Maui County Mayor Michael Victorino, Maui County Council Chairwoman Alice Lee and other county legislators are expected to offer remarks. Maui Mediation Services Executive Director Bevanne Bowers, immediate past president of the Maui Nonprofit Directors Association, will be the keynote speaker and talk about the value of volunteers to nonprofit organizations.
