Home / News & Events / Rutgers University Students Prepare for U.S.-South Africa Impact Investing Bootcamp May 7, 2021: Anna Agbotse (MPA’22) and Ana Karina Olivera (MPA’21), currently enrolled in the Rutgers School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA), have been selected for a three-week Impact Investing Bootcamp scheduled from July 12- July 30, 2021. This year’s UI Bootcamp will engage students from South Africa and the United States, and is sponsored through the U.S. Department of State’s University Partnerships Initiative (UPI). UPI is an initiative focused on strengthening existing ties and fostering new collaboration between U.S. and South African universities.

International Student House DC hosts virtual awards ceremony

March 11, 2021 In a night that combined steadfast traditions with unparalleled circumstances, the International Student House of Washington DC (ISH-DC) last month held its annual leadership awards ceremony online. The Feb. 9 event honored Rep. Don Beyer (D-Virginia); his wife, journalist and activist Megan Beyer; and local businessman Robert J. Abernethy. The Beyers jointly received a Global Leadership Award, while Abernethy got a Global Educator Award. Among those hosting the event were diplomatic chairs Domingo Fezas Vital, Portugal’s ambassador to the United States, and his wife, Isabel Vital, along with co-chairs James Blanchard, who was governor of Michigan and then US envoy to Canada from 1993 to 1996, and his wife Janet Blanchard, and Lisa Barry and James Gale.
