Lifting Of Statewide COVID-19 Precautions Puts Decisions In Lap Of Businesses, Individuals

Gov. Chris Sununu’s surprise decision to lift New Hampshire’s statewide mask mandate this week leaves residents, businesses, local officials and health care workers with big decisions to make about their own safety and that of those around them, as COVID-19 continues to pose a risk to public health.
The most immediate impact will likely be felt in the state’s retail sector, where businesses must now decide whether to set and enforce their own COVID-19 policies, and customers will face a patchwork of restrictions, store to store, restaurant to restaurant.
Patrons at any of John Tinios’s restaurants on the Seacoast will now encounter a sign that explains they would appreciate customers continuing to wear masks, but there will be no requirement. ....

Advocates weigh-in on Scott's budget proposals

Vermont Business Magazine Several community and business organizations have weighed in on Governor Scott s budget address, in which he outlined his plan for spending $6.8 billion. The governor has proposed using $210 million in one-time money on one-time initiatives. Much of that funding is going toward state technology upgrades, housing investments and economic opportunity.
Governor Scott Proposes Funding Increase for Vermont Housing & Conservation Board
In his Fiscal Year 2022 budget address delivered today, Governor Scott proposed a $20 million increase in funding to the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board (VHCB). The funding would support the well-documented need to create more housing across the state and to accelerate Vermont’s economic recovery while also addressing community needs highlighted by the pandemic. ....
