Sydney Morning Herald, made forecasts that Xinja would be in the black within two years and post $138 million in profit by fiscal 2026.
Xinja’s financial records show its losses have multiplied since it launched three years ago and auditors have consistently warned of insolvency risks. In 2018, the company reported a loss of $6.5 million, which subsequently increased by more than five-fold to $35.8 million this year. ....

Xinja customers were quickly clawing money out of the failed neobank in the lead up to its decision to pull up stumps and hand back its banking licence last week.
Founder and chief executive Eric Wilson has been focused on the safe and quick return of deposits to customers, a Xinja spokesman says. 
Xinja confirmed it held about $250 million in deposits last week when it ordered customers to transfer their savings to other financial institutions. That was down from about $457 million in deposits at the end of June, according to a disclosure on Xinja s website. ....

The dealmaker behind neobank Xinja s mysterious lifeline investment from Dubai has a string of soured business deals behind him, including one involving SEEK co-founder and technology entrepreneur Matt Rockman.
First Penny Investments chief executive Michael Gale was lauded by Xinja for facilitating a $433 million payment from Emirates World Investments. Neobank Xinja will hand back its banking licence and return most of the money to deposit holders before the year is out after the controversial outfit capitulated to the pressure of paying out interest without having a lending product in the market to offset the cash burn.
On Wednesday morning, Xinja published a message on its website stating its high interest accounts and transaction accounts would be closed one week from today while assuring customers their money was safe.
