The World Cement Association appointed Roland van Wijnen, CEO of PPC Ltd, and Mehendra Singhi, Managing Director & CEO of Dalmia Cement.

Agreed to in a vote back on the Dec. 10, 2020, World Cement Association (WCA) General Assembly Meeting, the Association appointed two new Directors: Roland van Wijnen, CEO of Africa’s PPC Ltd., and Mahendra Singhi Managing Director & CEO of India’s Dalmia Cement.
The Board of Directors has a key role within the WCA, as it defines the objectives and strategy of the association as well as overseeing the professional running of the organization and its activities. Board members are also responsible for ensuring members’ interests continue to be represented at all levels. ....

On 10 December the World Cement Association (WCA) held its 4th General Assembly Meeting in which it assessed the industry s challenges due to COVID-19 as well as the WCA s current priorities and the new industry patterns emerging post-COVID-19.
Globally, the pandemic continues at large due to multiple factors such as the downplay of the pandemic, slow response, or lack of mature public health facilities in some countries. The challenge is going on with the uneven resumption of work and production and the decline of cement sales and revenues, said WCA s President, Song Zhiping. ....

The President of the World Cement Association (WCA), Song Zhiping, addressed an international audience of senior cement industry leaders with his keynote speech at the WCA 4th General Assembly Meeting, held virtually on 10 December.
Reflecting on what has been a very difficult year for the global economy, Mr Song spoke about how the cement industry has tackled many challenges in recent months, ultimately finding new balance and seeking different directions to adapt to the reality of COVID 19.
Song Zhiping also looked ahead, to 2021 and beyond, highlighting two main areas of focus for the world’s cement industry post-COVID.
Firstly, improving the harmonious co-existence of production and environment will be a key priority. This pandemic served to remind us of the importance of aligning industrial activities towards sustainability and WCA will continue to provide guidance to members on contributing to the long-term development of a sustainable cement ....
