(WDAM) - Laurel Police Chief Tommy Cox is encouraging residents to stay off roads as temperatures continue to fall and conditions become more hazardous as ice accumulates on roadways. Cox said there have already been some issues with roads in Laurel Monday. One problem spot was the off-ramp of Leontyne Price Boulevard Monday, but Cox said the Mississippi Department of Transportation put sand out in the area to help alleviate the situation. ....

On Sunday night, Corpus Christi city leaders said around 120 people utilized the shelter they set up at the American Bank Center. But Monday brought power outages that state electrical grid operators say were required because the wintry weather reduced power production. The shelter at the American Bank Center experienced one of those outages. âItâs really frozen here, and theyâre trying to get us to move around, but the lights keep turning off, an unnamed shelter-user said. ....
