There is enough evidence to say the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine may cause very rare blood clots but the shot is still extremely safe, very effective and will remain on the Canadian market, Health Canada said Wednesday.
The department’s regulatory team is updating the vaccine’s label with information about the possibility of clots but only a patient who developed the new vaccine-induced blood clotting syndrome is advised not to get another dose of it. ....

U.S. recommends 'pause' for J&J shots in blow to vaccine drive | News

WASHINGTON The U.S. on Tuesday recommended a “pause” in using the single-dose Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine to investigate reports of rare but potentially dangerous blood clots, setting off a chain reaction worldwide and dealing a setback to the global vaccination campaign.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration announced that they were investigating unusual clots in six women between the ages of 18 and 48. One person died.
The acting FDA commissioner expected the pause to last only a matter of days. But the decision triggered swift action in Europe and elsewhere as the drugmaker and regulators moved to halt the use of the J&J vaccine, at least for now. Hundreds of thousands of doses were due to arrive in European countries this week. The European Union has been plagued by supply shortages, logistical problems and concerns over blood clots in a small number of people who received the AstraZeneca vaccine. ....

FDA Halts Use Of Johnson & Johnson s COVID-19 Vaccine Over Blood Clot Issues
NEW BRUNSWICK (dpa-AFX) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday that it is recommending a pause in the use of Johnson & Johnson s COVID-19 vaccine, after six women in the U.S. experienced a rare and severe type of blood clot after receiving the shot.
The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a joint statement that we are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution.
As of April 12, more than 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine have been administered in the U.S. CDC and FDA are reviewing data involving six reported U.S. cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the J&J vaccine, FDA said in the statement. ....
