May 5, 2021 Gabriel Theodore “Bucky” Willette, 84, of Saranac Lake passed away on May 3, 2021, at home, surrounded by his family. Gabriel was born on April 12, 1937, to Delia (Gates/Barriere) and Phillip Willette (Ouillet) in Saranac Lake, the youngest of 13 children. He spoke French before he spoke English and was very proud of his French Canadian heritage. He was raised on Santanoni and Shepard avenues. He attended St. Bernard’s School and Petrova School. He was a devout Catholic and member of the St. Bernard’s Church community. Gabriel served in the Air Force as an aircraft engine mechanic. He and the crew were responsible for flying and patrolling along the Atlantic coast near the end of the Korean War. ....
Apr 20, 2021 LAKE PLACID High Peaks Hospice will hold an outdoor Luminary Remembrance Celebration from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at the North Elba Show Grounds in Lake Placid, to remember hospice patients who died in recent months. Luminaries will represent those served by High Peaks Hospice between Aug. 15, 2020, and Mar. 31, 2021. Community members are encouraged to write a loved one’s name on a luminary to add to the display. Lanterns are free to anyone experiencing a loss, regardless of being in hospice. Organizers request that all visitors wear masks. No restroom facilities are available. RSVP to 518-891-0606. A similar event will take place Friday, April 30 in Port Henry. ....

Mar 1, 2021 Barbara Lynne Touby was born on Nov. 11, 1945, in Dayton, Kentucky, to Blanche and Jack Watson. She departed this life on Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, after a long, courageous struggle with cancer. She was married to Clair Ross Touby in June of 1975. She worked as a registered nurse at Adirondack Medical Center, Uihlein Mercy Center and High Peaks Hospice. Additionally, she worked as a clinical instructor at North County Community College. She also enjoyed her time as an actress and ticket manager at Pendragon Theatre, and her time spent working on the altar guild at St. Luke’s Church. Barbara is survived by her husband Clair Ross Touby, daughter Caroline Kipp, and grandchildren Alex, Carter and Griffin. ....
