Kaiser + Path: consulting on mass-timber building projects around the world.
Kaiser + Path is advising project teams in Japan and New Zealand, as well as on the West Coast. Typically, the developers are most interested in cross-laminated timber and whether it’s a good fit for their projects, said Ben Kaiser, the local all-in-one firm’s founding partner. ....

At FFA, we understand architecture is about making connections.
In 2018, FFA was hired to design a new, highly sustainable agricultural complex for Chemeketa Community College. For the project, using materials from the region was key to the college’s goals and design intent. During the visioning process, we determined the best way to achieve this aspiration was to use locally sourced mass timber.
To make mass timber a reality, the project team fostered connections among the design, construction and timber industries in our region. Along with FFA, these groups included Swinerton, the project’s general contractor, Freres Lumber, the project’s mass timber manufacturer and supplier, Chemeketa Community College, and the UO/OSU Tallwood Design Institute, a beacon of mass timber research and education for our region and beyond. ....

Michael Green Architecture Designs a Mass-Timber Research Complex
The Oregon Forest Science Complex is a proving ground for mass timber’s sustainable, seismic, and even psychological benefits.
The new Peavy Hall is a stout structure composed of two intersecting volumes that partially enclose a new arboretum at its rear. Michael Green Architecture (MGA), which has designed several mass-timber buildings, inserted an amphitheaterlike staircase into the atrium, made of recycled glulam beams from Peavy’s demolished predecessor. It’s topped by a third-story “treehouse.”
