Ludhiana industry can employ 20,000 youngsters in next few months, claims Bindra | Ludhiana News

LUDHIANA: Punjab Youth Development Board (PYDB) chairman Sukhwinder Singh Bindra on Sunday claimed that the Ludhiana industry has assured more than 20,000 jobs to local youth in the next few months. He also lauded the contribution of Ludhiana industry for always supporting Punjab government’s flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ scheme.
The PYDB chairman held a meeting with several representatives of Ludhiana industry at the Chamber of Industrial & Commercial Undertakings (CICU) complex. The meeting was attended by all office bearers of CICU including president Upkar Singh Ahuja, general secretary Pankaj Sharma along with representatives of associations related to knitwear, shawl, blanket, plywood, dyeing, processing and furnace industries. ....

Ludhiana: Almost a month after ban on the use of oxygen gas in industrial processes was imposed in Punjab, the factories are now gasping for breath. TOI had recently reported about how the production of the furnace industry had tumbled due to non availability of gas and as a result a large number of factories have shut their operations. Business body offers rent-free O2 concentrators to workers | Ludhiana News

Ludhiana: In a noble initiative undertaken amid the pandemic, Punjab’s biggest business association Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings (CICU) on Sunday announced rent-free oxygen concentrator service, in which first preference will be given to workers and employees of their member factories.
The needy can contact on CICU’s helpline number 8872899992 for availing this service, which has been started with 30 concentrators and the number will be increased in the coming days.
Upkar Singh Ahuja, CICU president, said, “The government and the administration are doing their best to counter the deadly wave of coronavirus and it is the need of the hour that everyone who can provide any type of help should come forward. Due to the huge spurt in demand for oxygen and difficulties being faced by the patients requiring it at home, we have started this initiative, under which staff of our member factories will be provided oxygen concentrators for temporary use and ....

Ludhiana: Due to tough times being faced by the industrialists in the wake of frequent lockdowns in states that are big consumers of their products, they have started looking for other solutions. Online selling and e-commerce platforms, which have become most sought-after modes of sales in the country, were unfortunately not opted by a lot of Ludhiana factories so far. The ones that have taken to this model are of the view that though online selling is challenging, they will have to adapt to it.
