Casey Park Elementary School in Auburn on Wednesday held Bike to School Day, a federally funded program coordinated by the Cayuga County Health Department and the New York State Governor s Traffic Safety Committee. Bike to School Day events, which are taking place at several Auburn and Cayuga County schools this month, are funded through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – National Bike to School Day was Wednesday, May 5th. ON THE MOVE partnered with all Valley City schools to encourage students to ride bike to school.
Biking offers children an opportunity to have fun, be more independent and is great exercise and good for the environment. Bike to School Day encourages students to have fun riding bike to school and brings attention to the importance of biking safety.
ON THE MOVE partnered with Valley City Public Schools to create two bike safety videos that were posted on the Valley City Public Schools Facebook page. School Resource Officer Sean Hagen shared information on biking safety and highlighted the following points:

Despite Wednesday’s cool morning air, dozens of Holy Ghost Lutheran School students found a different way to get to school.
About 40 students, from kindergartners to eighth-graders, celebrated National Bike to School Day by riding their bikes to school. It was a success. The kids had so much fun, said Tammy Schmidt, mom of a fifth-grade student.
According to national organizers, Bike to School Day “celebrates the joy of active commuting while building a sense of community and school spirit.”
Holy Ghost students from five classrooms set out from five starting points. The routes were about a mile from school.

ORLANDO, Fla. – This last year has brought change, uncertainty and self-reflection for so many but for one Central Florida businesswoman it also meant a chance to make a difference.
Michelle Sanchez-Vahamonde turned her feelings of helplessness into hope. Vahamonde started her own nonprofit called Above and Beyond for Change.
Her first projects have all centered around the students at Pinewood Elementary in Orlando.
