A local court in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat has granted bail to seven persons, including three cloth traders related to each other, after the police failed to produce evidence regarding the fake stickers and ribbons they allegedly used to sell the cloth made by recreating shrouds stolen by them from crematoriums and graveyards. The seven were arrested by police last month on charges of allegedly stealing pieces of cloths used as shrouds in crematoriums and graveyards before cleaning them and packing them with fake stickers and ribbons of a Gwalior company. They allegedly sold the recreated cloth for a good price in the market. ....

She was 89 and was being treated at a hospital in Meerut since April 26. Mera saath chhoot gaya, Chandro kaha chali gayi (She has left me, Chandro where have you gone?), her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar, who is also one of the oldest female sharp shooters, wrote on her Twitter page. Tomar, who was nicknamed Shooter Dadi , was hospitalised after complaining of difficulty in breathing. New Delhi: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) President and former Union minister Ajit Singh passed away on Thursday due to COVID-19, confirmed his son Jayant Chaudhary. He was 82. Singh, a prominent leader in western Uttar Pradesh, was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Delhi after he tested positive for the coronavirus on April 20. Chaudhary Ajit Singh ji was diagnosed as COVID positive on April 20. He battled his condition till the very end and breathed his last today morning on May 6, Jayant, the RLD Vice President, said in a tweet. Jayant also shared a note on Twitter on behalf of the family members which read: Throughout his life journey, Chaudhary Sahib was loved and respected by many. He, in turn, cherished this bond with all of you and gave his best consideration and efforts for your welfare.
