The COVID-19 pandemic appears to have found an unlikely ally in former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. Even as India records more than 3 lakh cases per day, and the daily death toll hovers at the 4000 mark, the BJP leader decided to champion the virus, batting for it s right to life.
In remarks that have since gone viral, the CM can be heard telling reporters that if one viewed the situation from a philosophical angle , the coronavirus too had rights. And while he did put man s needs above that of the virus, Rawat seemed somewhat sympathetic to the plight of the virus too.

Amid reports that the BJP central leadership is mulling a change of guard in Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Monday afternoon arrived in Delhi to meet the party bigwigs, news agency ANI reported. He (Rawat) will meet Central BJP leaders in Delhi, the Chief Minister s Office said.Â
According to reports, the party on Saturday dispatched two central leaders to Uttarakhand amid indications that a section of state party leaders are unhappy with Rawat. Party s national vice president and former Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh and general secretary Dushyant Kumar Gautam have been meeting state party leaders to receive feedback over a variety of issues.

New Delhi, March 8 : Keeping in few the fast-changing political scenario in Uttarakhand, a high-level meeting of the top BJP leadership group began in the Parliament House complex on Monday evening.
National President J.P. Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah and National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh are present in this all-important meeting. Earlier, the meeting was scheduled to be held at the residence of Nadda. But owing to the Budget session, it is now being held in Parliament premises.
