The American Solti Foundation announced the young American conductors who have been selected as 2021 recipients of The Sir Georg Solti Career Assistance Award. They are, Assistance Award (in alphabetical order) are conductors:
Nathaniel Efthimiou, founding Music Director of Orchestra Contempo, Assistant Conductor, Boston Civic Symphony, Assistant Director of Music at Boston’s historic Park Street Church and acting Assistant Conductor, Rhode Island Philharmonic;
Kevin Fitzgerald, Assistant Conductor of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and Music Director of the Alabama Symphony Youth Orchestra, he is also the founder of the Michigan-based contemporary music ensemble ÆPEX Contemporary Performance;

DAYTON, Ohio, Jan. 14, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The Dayton Power and Light Company (DP&L), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), today was given the Edison Electric Institute s (EEI) Emergency Assistance Award for its outstanding work to restore electric service to impacted customers in the greater Philadelphia area following Hurricane Isaias in August 2020.

Presented to EEI member companies, Emergency Response Awards recognize the recovery and assistance efforts of electric companies following service disruptions caused by extreme weather or other natural events. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges following an international nomination process, and the awards were presented during EEI s virtual Winter Board and Chief Executives Meeting.

The Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program awarded two technicians for their outstanding conservation work over the past year.
Alex Svoboda of the Osceola-Lake Conservation District and Robert Malcomnson of the Lapeer Conservation District were presented with the awards during the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts’ convention and annual meeting, which was held virtually Dec. 14.
Every year since 2010, MAEAP has selected two exceptional program technicians for the Verification Award and the MAEAP Technical Assistance Award to recognize them for going above and beyond for MAEAP and their commitment to conservation in Michigan.
Nancy Wilkie (1942-2021) The Office of Student Fellowships extends our sympathies to the family of Nancy Wilkie, who passed away on January 18th after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

This fellowship, made possible by a generous gift from Professor Emerita Nancy Wilkie, supports attendance at a field school or other archaeological field site for one to two students per summer.
First-year, sophomore, and junior students are eligible to apply.
Nancy Wilkie taught in classics and anthropology at Carleton College from 1974 until 2013, when she retired as Professor Emerita. She received her AB in classics from Stanford University and her MA and PhD in Greek from the University of Minnesota. She worked on archaeological excavations in Greece, Egypt, and Nepal. From 1985 to 1996, Nancy was the director of the Grevena Project, an archaeological survey in Southwest Macedonia, Greece, where she managed an i
