July 20, 2021 189 BANTAM – Thomas G. Elliott passed away peacefully at home on July 17, 2021. Tom was born on January 7, 1951 in New York. He grew up in Torrington and moved to Bantam in 1977. He is survived by his ex-wife and long time partner, Judith Elliott, of Bantam; his sister, Debra Bakula and her husband Stan of Torrington; his sister, Patricia Elliott and her long time partner James Campbell of Plymouth; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom enjoyed making pottery and glass blowing. He will be missed by his beloved dog, Peanut and cat, Smoky. Donations may be made in his memory to Pet Assistance Inc. Drawing from research in 12 conflict zones around the world – from the Democratic Republic of Congo, to Afghanistan, to Colombia – Autesserre details what’s wrong with what she refers to as “Peace, Inc.” This traditional approach to ending wars, she explains, relies on foreign-led peacebuilders who lack an in-depth understanding of the societies and cultures in which they work and the causes of violence. ....
Beneficiaries of the Nmah-Clarke Family Humanitarian Aid gesture The distribution food and non-food items to the elderly, people living with disabilities, women and children has become distinctly habitual for the Nmah-Clarke Family Humanitarian Aid, Inc (NCFHA), and this year’s festive season donation is the 28 th instant, since the distribution kicked off in 2006. The distribution is twice a year, every Independence and Christmas holiday seasons. Besides the biannual free food and non-food distributions, the NCFHA is engaged in what is known as the normal free gifts, including the free school program, which is known as BRIDGE meaning “Build, Resource, Integrity, Design, Growth and Environment.” ....
By News Director Jared Atha After a recent break in and burglary, Hope Inc in Elk City saw their food supply take a hit. Fortunately generous donations of all kinds have helped the non-profit continue to help the less fortunate. According to Help Inc Operations Manager Joanna Davis-Wood, she discovered that most of their meat supply had been stolen sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. She said it didn’t take long for word to spread about the incident, and for help to arrive. ....
