Families can celebrate Migratory Bird Day at 10:30 Saturday at Taylor Park, 900 E. Stephenson St., Freeport. Activities will include team nest building, obstacle courses, kite flying and snacks. 2. Admire area wildlife
The Northwest Illinois Audubon Society will host a visit to Mississippi Palisades State Park to observe signs of spring at 9 a.m. Saturday. The park is home to unusual wildflowers and birds. Food Truck Tuesdays return to Rockford, draw a large crowd


ROCKFORD The aroma of sizzling, spicy cuisine wafted through the air along the Sinnissippi Recreation Path Tuesday evening, marking the return of Food Truck Tuesdays at the Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens. 
Vendors included Savor BBQ Co., which specializes in southern style barbecue; Jammin Jerk Grill, whose menu includes jerk chicken, a taste of Jamaica and fried plantain; and The Olive Branch Greek Food Truck, which urges hungry customers to get their Greek on.
“We’re known for our gyros, which are excellent,” said Mike Wolding with the Olive Branch. “We also have a Greek rice bowl, which includes a side of Greek salad, a bed of rice and your choice of chicken, pork, gyro or falafel.” ....

There will be no shortage of live music, food, and fun in Cedar Rapids this summer!
NewBo City Market has announced the return of several different events here in Cedar Rapids these next couple of months, including Rock the Block, Meet Me at the Market, and Food Truck Tuesdays.
First up is
Food Truck Tuesdays, which officially returned this week. Every Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the end of August, various local food trucks will be set up in the parking lot and on the lawn of NewBo City Market. The venue is asking that you abide by social distancing rules at the event. ....

In Contrast With Flagler Beach, Palm Coast Will Go Ahead With Independence Day Fireworks in Town Center

The annual Palm Coast fireworks celebration of Independence Day will return this year on July 3 along with the traditional Central Park picnic, with no restrictions on attendance except for a recommendation of physical distancing.
The city has been marking its own July 4 celebrations in tandem with Flagler Beach since 2010, always a day before or a day after Flagler Beach’s big-draw event that’s held on July 4. The announcement was a surprise: it was not discussed by the city council, neither at a meeting nor at a workshop.
But this year, like last year, Flagler Beach has elected not to go ahead with its July 4 parade and fireworks, citing covid safety issues and the impossibility of practicing physical distancing along the parade route or even on the beach and along State Road A1A when the fireworks go off. Anyone who’s attended Flagler Beach’s July 4 celebrations would be familiar with its throngs of people as the barrie ....
