The building at 1600 Main St., Springfield, once proposed as an International Biergarten, was sold in April 2021 to a new owner, marking the second sale of the property in two months, (Don Treeger/ The Republican)

SPRINGFIELD The former International Biergarten building downtown, sold just two months ago by the New England Farm Workers Council, was sold again last week, with plans not yet revealed.
Ronald Krupke of 1670 Main Street LLC, who bought the property in February for $700,000, sold it last week for $800,000, according to records on file with the Hampden County Registry of Deeds. ....

Agawam will ask feds for $48M in sewer funds

AGAWAM Sewers still aren’t coming to southwestern Feeding Hills, no matter how much money Washington spends on infrastructure, city councilors said Monday.
The council unanimously passed a resolution calling on Western Massachusetts’ representatives in Washington to fund the estimated $48.48 million cost of extending the town’s wastewater utility to neighborhoods along South Westfield Street and South West Street, using some of the more than $2 trillion in President Joseph Biden’s proposed American Jobs Plan.
Although several councilors spoke in favor of the goal, many at the meeting said the project does not appear to be eligible for funding under the president’s proposed legislation. ....

AGAWAM In the midst of a pandemic defined by remote learning and online activities, elementary school teacher Tammy Rumplik didn’t let computers get in the way of her science fairs and hands-on projects.
That’s part of why Rumplik, the science specialist at Clark School in Agawam and Granger School in Feeding Hills, was recently named a Conservation Teacher of the Year by MassAudubon.
“Science is truly her passion, and it’s something she’s passionate about passing along to her students,” said Stephanie Gendron, the principal at Granger. “She packs as much into each lesson as she possibly can. … You can definitely tell, with everything extra she’s done, especially this year. I don’t think you could ask more of someon ....
