MUMBAI: In a surprise check at a hotel offering a Covid vaccination package, mayor Kishori Pednekar on Sunday found vaccines stored in an ordinary fridge instead of specialised cold storage facilities that are needed to store the vaccines. Pednekar has asked BMC officials to check if the vaccination drive complied with all the norms and submit a detailed report.
“There is a tie-up between the hotel and Criticare Hospital, which is the vaccinating agency. The hospital bought the vaccine doses as per the Central government rules but the BMC is not aware of this hotel vaccination centre. I’m concerned about the fridge where the vaccines were kept. If the temperature is not maintained, the vaccine may lose efficacy. Cold storage facilities were not properly maintained,” Pednekar said after visiting The Lalit Hotel in Andheri East. NEW DELHI: The new guidelines of the Maharashtra government to curb Covid-19 infections will force almost 90 per cent of restaurants to shut down and has spelled doom for the hospitality industry in the state, Hotel and Restaurant Association Western India (HRAWI) said on Tuesday.
Maharashtra is witnessing a spike in Covid-19 cases, forcing authorities to impose restrictions from April 5.
HRAWI also urged the state government to compensate employees engaged in the industry and their families for the loss of income, and also support hoteliers and restaurateurs by waiving all statutory fees, taxes and utility bills. ....

In a major relief to the hospitality industry battered by the coronavirus pandemic, the Maharashtra government has announced a partial waiver of the excise license fee along with the roll-back of the 15 per cent annual fee increase for the year 2020.
