The American Families Plan includes tax credits worth $300 a month for children under six and $250 a month for those under 18, but the administration also proposes a cap on the cost of day care. Middle and low-income families would pay no more than 7% of their earnings. At the University of Virginia, sociologist Brad Wilcox says that unfairly favors one approach to caring for children.
“Most American parents prefer to have their kids cared for at home either by a parent or a family member, he says. In particular we see that Hispanics are the ones who are most likely to prefer that a parent or relative would care for their kid.”

A swastika was found scratched onto the front window of a Jewish synagogue in Salt Lake City on Sunday morning. Police are searching for a suspect seen in a surveillance video, and according to reports, the incident is being treated as a hate crime, while a rabbi from the temple is speaking out about the meaning behind the symbol.

Former President Donald Trump has been away from social media for several months following the January 6 insurrection. Facebook is already turning to its oversight board to make a decision regarding the former president’s indefinite suspension from the platform, a decision that is set to be announced this week.
The Facebook Oversight Board is expected to announce its decision regarding Trump’s suspension from the platform this week. The decision would follow the request made by the platform last January on whether suspending the former president was correct, as well as recommendations when it comes to accounts of political figures. Once the board makes the decision, Facebook would be given seven days to comply, as will its linked platform, Instagram.
