LMU s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program Receives Candidacy for Accreditation | News

May 16, 2021 2 hrs ago KNOXVILLE — The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) received Candidacy for Accreditation status by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The program at LMU-Knoxville (9731 Cogdill Road) will welcome its inaugural class May 18, 2021.   “We are proud to have received candidacy for accreditation from CAPTE. This is a significant achievement and a testament to the hard work our faculty and staff have poured into developing this innovative program,” said Associate Professor and Program Director Dr. Kellee Harper-Hanigan. “As we welcome our inaugural class, our students can feel confident that they are receiving the high-quality training that will prepare them to become qualified physical therapists to meet the health care needs of their communities.”

Spalding University Launching DPT Program in Renovated Car Dealership

New DPT Program for Remote Students Spalding University in Louisville, Ky, announces plans to launch a hybrid online/on-campus Doctor of Physical Therapy program in the fall of 2022. Applications for the new program are being accepted starting June 15. The new Spalding School of Physical Therapy will offer an entry-level DPT track for aspiring physical therapists as well as an online post-professional track for practicing PTs who want to earn a doctorate. The program will be presented in a hybrid, low-residency format of online lecture courses and in-person laboratory experiences held 1 week each month in a state-of-the-art facility that is currently being renovated from its previous use as a Chevrolet dealership. The renovation is set to be completed in late 2021, according to a news release from the university.

However, what impact could it have on patients recovering from a stroke? Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network aims to find out. It reports it has received a National Institutes of Health (NIH) research grant to study the complex relationship between stroke, sleep and rehabilitation, according to a media release. The $500,000 NIH grant will fund Good Shepherd’s portion of a five-year study “SLEEPR Study: The Sleep Effects on Post-Stroke Rehabilitation” that also marks a research partnership between Good Shepherd and SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. SLEEPR is short for SLEep Effects on Post-stroke Rehabilitation, according to a news release from Good Shepherd.
