Buhari's govt struggles with oil industry promises 5 years after


These promises were collated from the APC policy document and manifesto, Buhari’s 100 days covenant, speeches at campaign rallies and town hall meetings nationwide in a runoff to the 2015 election.
Addressing the challenges formed the bedrock of a road map for the industry called the “7 Big Wins” which was launched by the president in October 2016.
The campaigns then were based on the ‘Change’ mantra. However, even on the ‘Next Level’ agenda which is already more than one year, the administration is still grappling to fulfill these promises.
The 7 Big Wins are Policy & Regulation, Business Environment & Investment Drive, Gas Revolution, Refineries and Local Production Capacity, Niger Delta & Security, Transparency & Efficiency, and Stakeholder Management and International Coordination. ....

Annual Summit Brew Path kicks off on Wednesday


It s time once again to hit the brewery trail.
The annual Summit Brew Path which includes two Stark County breweries starts Wednesday and runs through Dec. 12.
Participants simply need to stop by one of 24 participating craft brewers in the Akron area and pick up a passport, then have a sample or two.
The path is coordinated by the Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Those who complete the passport by stopping at 20 or 24 of the breweries are eligible for a drawing with prizes, including a VIP experience at one of the watering holes.
This marks the fifth year of the annual trek, but Jim Mahon, visitors bureau vice president of marketing, admits last year did present some challenges with state-mandated closures as a result of the pandemic. ....

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Abuja launched “The Decade of Gas in Nigeria” with a pledge that his administration would fully utilize the enormous gas resources in the country to uplift the economy and drive industrialization.
Setting the tone for the development of the industry in the next ten years, President Buhari said given the country’s potential of about 600 trillion cubic feet of gas, the commodity has the enormous potential to diversify Nigeria’s economy.
‘‘The rising global demand for cleaner energy sources has offered Nigeria an opportunity to exploit gas resources for the good of the country. We intend to seize this opportunity,’’ the President said at the virtual Nigeria International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) 2021 Pre-Summit Conference and official launch of the Decade of Gas. ....
