Nolan Our Loud: Dems got what they wanted from impeachment
Democrats didn t get a conviction of former President Donald Trump, but they did get just what they wanted from this retroactive impeachment process.
They now have enough campaign material to run on continuous loop between now and the 2022 mid-term election, in hopes of distracting the nation from the damage their policies are doing.
They ll be able to paint every Republican who refused to go along with this legally questionable process as backers of Trump and what he did on Jan. 6.
Many of those who voted against the impeachment genuinely believed it unconstitutional. The refusal of Supreme Court Justice John Roberts to preside over the trial, as the Constitution specifies, is telling. Instead, the judge was a Democratic senator who also voted to convict. Hardly an impartial jurist.  ....
