SHAPE hosts Annual Allied Command Operations Gender Advisors Conference
MONS, Belgium – Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) hosted its annual Allied Command Operations (ACO) Gender Advisors (GENAD) Conference virtually on May 11 to 12, 2021.
The conference objective was to create an opportunity for all participants to strengthen the coordination and collaboration across various organisational structures in ACO and NATO, to discuss all the topics of interest and benefit from sharing experiences, information and best practices among the community.

NATO exercise ‘Steadfast Defender 2021’, which is being held between 12 May and 2 June, will be the first major test of the alliance’s adapted command structure, involving the new Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) in Ulm, Germany, and Joint Force Command (JFC) Norfolk in Virginia in the United States.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was quoted on the alliance’s website on 7 May as saying, “Exercise ’Steadfast Defender 2021’ will test NATO’s readiness and military mobility, with forces deploying across land and sea, all the way from North America to the Black Sea region and off the coast of Portugal . with over 9,000 troops, [demonstrating] that NATO has the capabilities and resolve to protect all allies against any threat.” ....

NATO announces official kick-off of flagship exercise Steadfast Defender 2021
Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) invites media representatives to a virtual press conference on NATO exercise Steadfast Defender 2021 on Thursday, 6 May 2021, at 15:30 (Brussels Time).
The press conference will be led by SHAPE’s Vice Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Brice Houdet with representative from the Joint Force Commands Norfolk (USA), Naples (ITA) and the headquarters Joint Support and Enabling Command (DEU). The NATO Spokesperson Oana Lungescu will moderate the virtual press conference.
