Hon Amos Lugoloobi has just been appointed as State Minister for Finance awaiting vetting by the Appointments Committee. 
Uganda’s per capita income is increasing steadily. In Financial Year 2015/16 it was US$ 808 and is projected to increase to US$ 932 in Financial Year 2020/21. 
Coffee remains the leading agricultural export earning US$ 497.4 million in the Financial Year 2019/20. Dairy exports fetched US$ 204.5 million, while Tea exports earned US$ 71 million in Financial Year 2019/20. ....

Parliament has spent over Shs 1 billion to hire two tents being used for plenary sessions due to Covid-19 restrictions.
In March last year, parliament s sittings were shifted from the main chambers to the parking lot to observe the Covid-19 standard operating procedures. The legislature has since then been paying Shs 8.5 million daily to hire the tents.
This figure when summed up over the 11 months that the tents have been hired amounts to over Shs 1.1 billion. Parliament has had to foot a monthly bill of over Shs 102 million as tent rental costs. Parliament broke off for close to two months for elections and holidays. ....

Property owners and tenants are up in arms against lawmakers for imposing 25 per cent rental income tax, effective July 1.
Dozens of landlords and tenants interviewed accused members of the 10th Parliament, whose term expires next week, of not consulting them as voters and real estate stakeholders.
The new levy is likely to result in increased rent as property owners will pass the cost onto tenants, who will desert commercial and residential buildings. ....
