Planners Hear Informal Update on 'Quarry' Plans | Top Stories

MONROE — The item was not on the agenda, but members of the Planning and Zoning Commission allowed an informal update on future plans for 64 Cambridge Dr./4 Independence Dr., also referred to as the “quarry,” at the Thursday, May 6, meeting.
Attorneys Joel Green, representing intervenor Peter Metropoulis, and Stephen Finn, representing the applicant, both requested time during public participation to speak about current conditions on the site.
Mr. Green said his client continues to be concerned that materials brought onto the site may be contaminated and requested documentation. He said violations should be addressed before anything else is done there.
Mr. Finn called Mr. Green’s comments “deceptive” and said three complaints have been filed with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and none has resulted in any action from that agency after their review. ....

Violations in wetland areas of Wilton have increased over the past few months and at least one resident says that more direct contact with homeowners must be made.Jeannette Ross / Hearst Connecticut Media
WILTON An increase in wetlands infractions being doled out in recent weeks has left some residents disgruntled and wanting more education on the proper permitting process.

Permits must be obtained to make any changes to one’s property either on a wetland or watercourse area, or within 100 feet of those areas. ....
