WILMINGTON Betty Louise Malpass Shaw, 60, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021. She was born Feb. 18, 1960, in Wilmington to the late Archie Malpass Sr. and Helen Louise Dukes Malpass. Betty grew up in Wilmington and was a graduate of E.A. Laney High School. She was a member of Pine View Church in the Flemington Community. She was a loving and special mother, sister and aunt. She loved all of her family, especially her six nieces. She loved baking, crafts, flowers and spending time with her family and friends. She was a resident at Yatties Independent Living in Chadbourn, and loved her fellow residents and staff who were like family to her. Special thanks to all of the staff and residents who treated her like family. ....
WILMINGTON Clyde K. “Kendrick” Farmer, 37, passed away Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, at his residence. Kendrick was born Jan. 10, 1983, at New Hanover Memorial Hospital, Wilmington, to Clyde Keith Farmer and Lynette Thompson Farmer. He is survived by his parents; son, Dorian Gray Farmer; former wife, Maria Diaz; sister, Johanna Hill, and her husband, Brad Hill; and niece, Lynette Hill. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert Ray Thompson, Wilma Welch Thompson, Allen Houston, Marguerite Hardie Houston, Clyde Grover Farmer and Mary Ellen Farmer. He graduated from E.A. Laney High School in 2001 as a member of the National Honor Society. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina Wilmington, summa cum laude, with a double major in criminal justice and sociology. He worked for many years at Harris Teeter and later Vocational Rehab of North Carolina. He lived in Wilmington his entire life. ....
