Companies need to make sure their employees feel comfortable getting behind the wheel again as Covid-19 lockdown measures ease and more journeys return.
That s according to Red Driver Risk Management, which warned that having seen reduced mileages during the pandemic, many employees felt more anxious about driving again for business.
It has therefore compiled a six-question survey for fleets.
The questions are:
Are you expecting staff to resume driving for business?
Are you asking staff that have not previously driven for business to drive - possibly even in their own vehicle?
Have you directly asked your staff whether they feel comfortable returning to normal?  ....

Employers are being urged by Red Driver Risk Management to consider six key questions before asking employees to resume driving for work.

Stonehaven residents are to embrace a long-awaited “feeling of freedom” when physical distancing measures are scaled back ahead of the summer season.
Barriers and bollards put in place to widen pavements for pedestrians as part of the local authority’s Spaces for People project are expected to be removed next week.

Driving lessons to resume ten days before driving tests to ensure drivers are 'prepared'

This will be followed by car and lorry driving lessons, motorcycle tests and theory tests from 12 April before car tests go ahead 10 days later.
However, it is expected many learner drivers will still miss out on their tests and be forced to reschedule.
One road user said they were worried their rescheduled test booked for April 14th would still be cancelled as this was scheduled days before test restrictions are set to be lifted.
Replying to the tweet, the DVSA almost confirmed this would be the case, adding they would “email candidates” with details on rescheduled tests.

Company issues recall of avalanche beacon that backcountry users allege is 'faulty'

VANCOUVER
The North American distributor of an avalanche beacon has issued a “voluntary recall” of the product after two skiing accidents in B.C., one of them fatal.
It’s a move that backcountry advocates and those around them have been calling for for years, saying the device is “faulty.”
In 2017, Corey Lynam died after being caught in an avalanche while skiing in the backcountry near Whistler.
Lynam was wearing a Pieps DPS Sport transceiver but it wasn’t sending a signal, making it near impossible for search crews to find him in time.
His widow, Brianne Howard, believes the device switched off while Lynam was in the avalanche. ....
