Responding to a June 10 letter from Republican governors Greg Abbott of Texas and Douglas Ducey of Arizona, seeking “emergency” assistance, nearly a dozen Republican governors have responded that they will be deploying National Guard soldiers and state police to the US-Mexico border.
In preparation for former President Donald Trump’s fascist rally in McAllen, Texas, on June 30, Republican governors in South Dakota, Florida, South Carolina, Iowa, Idaho, Georgia, Nebraska and Arkansas have either announced or have already sent National Guard soldiers or state police officers to Texas and/or Arizona. ....

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A group of South Dakota Legislators is asking Governor Noem to apologize to the South Dakota National Guard calling the deployment a “misuse.”
In the letter sent Wednesday, the legislators say the state’s “National Guard, and no troops should ever be made available for privately contracted mercenary assignments.”
The letter says the deployment raising ethical questions, sets a dangerous precedent, and should be canceled immediately. It says the $1 million donated by a Tennessee-based foundation should be returned. ....

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem tweeted Monday that she s sending 50 of her state s National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas and will be paid for by a private donation, according to Axios.
Noem said,
I m officially announcing up to 50 National Guard troops to Texas to help secure our border. She said President Biden has forgotten that a secured border is critical to maintaining a sovereign nation. We shouldn t be making our own communities vulnerable by sending police to fix Biden s border crisis.
The funding for the troop deployment is coming from a Tennessee billionaire and high-dollar Republicans, Axios said. ....
