A GROUP of cubs and scouts were invited to a farm to help ease fears about cows. Members of the Beaminster Cub Scout Group enjoyed a visit to Hollis Mead organic dairy farm in Corscombe where they learnt more about the animals and built up confidence . The first challenge required every scout aged between eight and 14 to put their arms behind their backs and kiss one of the farm s calves - every scout was then awarded the ‘Hollis Mead Badge of Bravery - a milk bottle lid on a pin, The group then participated in a farming assault course - a relay race with milk yokes, before going cow pat hunting - to explain how the cow pats are beneficial to soil health. ....

Jump to navigation David Briggs Lagunitas School eighth graders Ian, Atticus and Dylan at the site of a future skate park on campus. Past students have met roadblocks in their attempts to build a skate park at the school, but these students may finally succeed.
By 05/19/2021 Three Lagunitas School eighth graders are one step closer to building a skate park on campus, after the school board officially recognized their skate club and cleared the way for fundraising last week. Ian Andrews, Atticus Bliss-McHone and Dylan Grimmer have spent the year organizing the club and planning the park as part of an assignment called the Change Project, designed as a way for students to engage with their community. They have provided written answers to the board’s questions about maintenance and liability, and faced down skeptical trustees. ....
