3:44 Plattsburgh’s Community Development Office has drafted a three-phase plan to enhance and expand the city’s bike infrastructure. A public meeting was held Thursday night to get feedback on the draft proposal. Among the events during the Fourth of July holiday weekend was a Community Bike Ride along routes proposed in Plattsburgh’s Bike Infrastructure Plan. It was followed up by a community feedback session at City Hall Thursday evening. The Warren City Council has approved launching an investigation into Mayor Jim Fouts hiring of a political consultant to a full-time post, alleging he didn t inform them as required and claiming the new hire could violate state law and city charter. Republican consultant Jamie Roe has been on the city payroll as a full-time clerical technician since last year without the mayor formally notified council as the city charter mandates, said Council Secretary Mindy Moore during a special council meeting Tuesday night. The council alleges Roe, who has worked for officeholders including Candice Miller, Macomb County Public Works commissioner, was secretly appointed; collected city paychecks while earning thousands of dollars managing political campaigns; and launched a political consulting company as well as generated more than 100 social media posts while working on city time. ....
Warren City Council votes to investigate ‘shadow employee’ Advertisement WARREN The Warren City Council voted 7-0 March 16 to open an investigation into the work of a mayoral clerical appointee amid questions about whether he was engaged in political campaign activity on city time. The appointee, Jamie Roe, a Republican political consultant who reportedly launched his own full service consulting firm with social media posts and a press release on March 11, was the subject of an hour-long discussion at a special meeting of the council. Council Secretary Mindy Moore walked her colleagues through a presentation laying out the findings of an initial inquiry into Roe s employment with the city thus far, overlaid with questions about his political work during city business hours. ....
Warren City Council agrees to settle lawsuit with mayor Advertisement WARREN A lawsuit over matters ranging from access to city contracts and legal opinions to the current budget, the tax rate and appointed positions in the mayor’s office has been settled by a unanimous vote of the Warren City Council. But even after the vote on Jan. 26, sources said it remained unclear whether the terms would be met as agreed in the settlement between Mayor Jim Fouts and members of the council, who filed the lawsuit last summer. “Unfortunately, we had to file a lawsuit to protect the charter and the integrity of the tax and budget process,” Warren City Council Secretary Mindy Moore said at the meeting, where the settlement was considered and adopted after it was added to the agenda that evening. “If we did not file this lawsuit, we would have incorrect tax bills, an incorrect city budget and this council would not have access to important city documents and records.” ....
Warren City Council refuses to pay nearly $5 million in city bills over conflict with administration Council says it won’t pay city bills until certain legal services are paid by city admins, who refuse Updated: Tags: $100 U.S. bills (File photo - Pexels) WARREN, Mich. – The Warren City Council is refusing to pay nearly $5 million in city bills because the administration won’t pay for legal services that Mayor Jim Fouts says the council sought “illegally” earlier this year. Fouts issued a press release on Thursday, Dec. 10 to call out the Warren City Council for its refusal to pay nearly $5 million to vendors that provided “essential” services to the community. The council voted on Dec. 8 not to pay city bills until the city paid a legal firm that was hired by the council in May. ....
