This week features Paa Kow and his Afro-Fusion Orchestra from June 2019 and Mamadou Kelly from October 2018. Paa Kow’s music career officially began when he decided to join in on the cowbell during his family’s band rehearsal at 7 years old. From there it’s been a joyous celebratory road to being dubbed Ghana s most artistic drummer. Having toured internationally, sharing stages with both African and American luminaries including Kojo Antwi, Amakye Dede and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones’s, Victor Wooten, Ghana born drummer and composer, Paa Kow, blends the rhythm and African roots from his home with jazz creating his own afro-fusion sound. She was called back to the famous stage a year later to perform with her hero and mentor Alison Krauss. She played Carnegie Hall at 12, and made her first record deal at 13. In her late teens, she garnered the first of many nominations for mandolin player of the year, became the first musician to receive a presidential scholarship at Berklee College of Music, and oh yeah - played the White House.
