SHAH ALAM: World #QuranHour is expected to gain 100 million viewership on television and digital platforms this year, said Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) founder Datuk Hussamuddin Yaacub.
World #QuranHour is a movement to build the Quranic value system, from Malaysia to the rest of the world.
Hussamuddin, who is also Karangkraf Media Group chairman said the target could be achieved through the support of its media partners promoting the event on their respective platforms to reach more people in Malaysia as well as overseas.

Meat cartel: Govt mulls setting up RCI to probe issue, says Zulkifli

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): The government is committed to addressing the issue of imported frozen meat bearing fake halal logos as soon as possible, including considering the setting up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI).
Minister in the Prime Minister s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said discussions have started and will continue until the issue is resolved.
We will discuss with Jakim (Islamic Development Department Malaysia), Halal Jakim and several ministries to see where the weaknesses are for us to fix.
I promise immediate action will be taken within Jakim s standards and jurisdiction, ” he told reporters after inspecting a centre for imported frozen meat here Monday (Dec 28). ....

KUALA LUMPUR: Non-governmental organisations have called for a complete overhaul of the frozen meat import system following an exposé that senior government officers are working with a cartel to smuggle non-certified meat into Malaysia.
They believe that the actions of these officers have placed the nation s health, safety and religious aspects of Muslims in jeopardy.
Muslim Consumers Association of Malaysia lead activist Datuk Nadzim Johan said there was an urgent need for the entire system that manages the supplies, including the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department (Maqis), Customs Department and port authorities, to be overhauled. ....
